Import Financial Transaction Data from Xero for Scope 3
Import using Xero integration
Overview
Our Xero integration lets you import financial transactions directly from Xero into Sumday, making it simple to sync data. To connect Sumday with Xero, start by initiating a transaction import. Once you’ve finalized your accounting for a period in Xero, connect to your Xero organization to bring over the necessary transactions.
Connecting Sumday and Xero
- Navigate to Assessments
- Select your Assessment
- Go to Transaction
- Select New Import.
- If Xero isn’t already connected, you’ll see a Connect Now button.
- Select the Xero organization you’d like Sumday to access and click Allow Access.
- You’ll see a confirmation screen. The connection may take some time, depending on the size of your Xero file. If it takes longer than 60 minutes, please contact us at support@sumday.io.
- Once connected, you’ll see a green Xero Connection Complete button in the top right corner and a Select button to proceed.
- That’s it! You’re now connected to Xero and ready to import transactions.
After a successful import, you’ll be directed to the Import Confirmation Screen to review and finalize the data.

I want to use CSV import instead, what report do I need from Xero?
If you don’t have access to Xero, use our email template to contact your accountant for this.
- In Xero you go to: Accounting > Reports > Accounting Transactions. Then once you are in the reporting:
- Select all accounts
- Set the date range to reflect the import date range
- Set Grouping/Summarising to "None"
- Select the Columns that align to the CSV template
- Bonus points: reorder the columns to align with the CSV template
- Click the update button to refresh the report
- Click the Export Button and export to Excel
- Bonus Points: Save As "Custom" so you can use the report for future periods
- If you haven't done step 5, then you will need to do this manually by copying the relevant columns over to the csv import template - If you have then you can copy the listing directly across
Then in the Data Entry section of Sumday select Import Transactions and follow the prompts to finalise the import process through the CSV upload flow.

Deleting the import
If you have accidentally imported the wrong data you can delete the data by clicking the little bin icon.
If there is a Lock icon, that means the imported transactions cannot be deleted until transactions have been unassigned from worksheets in the assessments section and unreconciled from ‘Reconciled Transactions’.
