You can access the Assessment Settings by selecting the settings icon (three lines with circles) in the top-right corner of the assessment pages. These settings control the configuration of your assessment, including reporting methods, data connections, and emission factor databases.
Basic Settings
The Basic Settings tab allows you to configure:
Assessment name – Defines how the assessment is labelled across the platform. Use a clear identifier such as “June 2025” or “FY24–25”.
Organisation name – The name displayed in reports and dashboards.
Xero connection – Enables integration with Xero. Once connected, financial transactions can be imported for spend-based Scope 3 calculations.
-
Default Scope 2 reporting method – Determines how Scope 2 emissions are calculated and reported in the Reports & Assessments dashboard:
Location-based – Uses regional grid-average emission factors.
Market-based – Uses supplier-specific or contractual emission factors, where available.
Delete assessment – Permanently removes the assessment and all associated data (settings, transactions, and activity records). Use with caution.
Locked settings
Once an assessment has been created, the following parameters cannot be changed:
Primary location
Currency
These are fixed to preserve the integrity of the assessment data.
Emission Factor Databases
The Emission Factor Databases tab manages the data sources used for emission calculations. Users can add, remove, import, or re-order databases.
Add Emission Factor databases - click the Add + Icon to add another database to the Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3 Spend or Scope 3 Activity emission factor datasets you can choose from
Remove Emission Factor Databases - click the Rubbish Bin icon to delete a database. If any transactions or data are coded to emission factors within the deleted database, these will be un-reconciled and need to have an emission source re-applied from a different database. A warning message will let you know how many transactions will be impacted by the deletion of this.
Database order – The sequence determines the hierarchy of emission sources displayed in Emissoin Source dropdown list across the assessment.

Scope 3 spend-based calculations – Additional configuration options are available:
