What is an Assessment in Sumday?

An Assessment in Sumday is where you measure the carbon emissions (also known as the carbon footprint) from your businesses activities, for a particular reporting period (such as the last financial or calendar year).

Sumday assessments are designed to follow the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, the global standard for carbon accounting. This ensures your emissions reporting is consistent, comparable, and accurate.

Tips for beginners

If this is your first time doing carbon accounting and completing a carbon assessment, we recommend starting with a few resources to build familiarity:

What Happens in an Assessment?

Each assessment takes you through a structured process to estimate the carbon emissions for the selected reporting period.

To complete an assessment you will:

  1. Import financial transactions

  2. Code transactions to emission sources

  3. Input additional activity data for Scope 1, 2 and 3

  4. Review your emissions in the Overview screen

The Sumday platform includes built-in tools (like the carbon accounting checklist and SumdAI guidance) to help you along the way.
