Factors are used by New Zealand organisations either voluntarily disclosing their emissions or NZ based organisations covered under the Country’s mandatory climate reporting legislation Each publication includes the annual emissions factors as well as the methods and assumptions used to derive this factors.

What the source says about its data quality For the majority of emission factors the source provides the percentage uncertainty associated with each of the emission factors. Further information is outlined as part of section 1.4 of the publication.
Sumday’s take The emissions factors published by NZ ME are activity based factors, compiled by a reputable governmental source and are released frequently ensuring changes in the latest scientific understanding are incorporated. These factors would indicate a relatively high level of data quality, however it is important to note that they are still based on average data and that judgement should always be used in in the selection of emissions factors, especially if the dataset does not directly relate to geographic
