Create an Assessment

Setting up an Assessment in Sumday

Once you've determined your emission assessment boundaries, the next step is to get started with your carbon accounting by creating an ‘Assessment’.

Once you create an Assessment, you can start the carbon accounting process for the reporting period the assessment aligns with.

Creating a new assessment:

  1. On the left hand menu, select Assessments
  2. Select Start New Assessment +
  3. Enter the details of the Assessment
    • Basic settings
      • Organisation name - What name you want to use for your organisation in your assessment
      • Primary location - Primary location where the organisation operates
      • Currency - Functional currency of the organisation
      • Reporting period - Pick the start and end dates of the period the assessment covers. Note that assessment periods cannot overlap
    • Emission factor databases
      • Select which emission factor databases you want to use when calculating your emissions in this assessment for all scopes.
      • Sumday has a number of default databases to choose from. Default databases are selected for your assessment based on the primary location selected for the assessment.
      • You can add, delete, and/or import your own emission factor databases as needed to use in the assessment.
      • Set the FX method and CPI application for each database.
      • Note: You can edit the emission factor databases selected for the assessment at any point by clicking the settings button on the top right of the assessment. You cannot delete an emission factor database if spend or activity data within the assessment have already been coded to an emission factor within the database. You will need to delete or un-code the transactions before  deleting it.
  4. Select Continue
  5. Enter a Name for the Assessment
  6. Select Create new assessment +
  7. Select Continue

You will be taken to the overview dashboard for the assessment. The next step is to import transactions in the Transactions tab at the top of the Assessment dashboard screen.
